Blaze Pizza Kuwait – Review

Blaze Pizza Kuwait – Review

While I try my best to eat right, work out and live a healthy life, there are some foods that fall in my list of ‘value calories’ and a great pizza easily makes the list. But the million dollar question is what makes a good pizza..?? I wish the answer to this question was simple cause today we have so many varieties; floppy foldable crusts; thin, crispy crusts; and both Chicago and Detroit-style deep-dish crusts, stuffed cheese et al. The number of toppings thrown on a pizza are so numerous and varied that ‘pizza purists’ would never even term todays choice options as Pizza and I believe that as far as the Italians are concerned, the pizza shouldn’t be messed with, Keep it simple !

In fact the citizens of Naples, who are credited with inventing the pizza as we know it in 1889 in honour of the king’s wife, Margherita, secured official EU protected status for their pizza, to distinguish it from inferior imitations. For a pizza to be called Neopolitan, amongst other stipulations it must be topped with genuine buffalo mozzarella and the tastiest San Marzano tomatoes.

Not everyone’s content to keep it simple though… and when it comes to taming our tummy few believe ‘less is more’, they love their pizza’s colorful, thick and full of stuff. Toppings include pepperoni, pineapple and everything in between…

Blaze Pizza is  is a California-based chain within the fast-casual dining restaurants category. Their mantra focuses on fresh, made-from-scratch dough (never frozen). healthy, artisanal ingredients on the assembly line. Inventive to classic. A Blazing hot oven + 180 seconds = fast-fire’d, perfectly crisp perfection. That’s Blaze in simple terms !!

We have visited the place a couple of times and honestly, the experience has consistently been good. My kind of pizza has a crispy charred but softly pliable crust, not too much sauce …. more emphasis on cheese, cheese that drips off the sides of the slice, where it makes a stretchy mess as you pull your slice away from the pie, so much that you have to ravel it up. An outer crust that is crispy but still bread-like and airy, that I don’t mind finishing off with them. Let me admit that I do like pepperoni, goat cheese, roasted peppers, roasted garlic and at times a little heat too. You get all this and more at blaze.

Enjoying a delicious wood fired pizza that can be customized is great… and its even better when the price is pretty reasonable !!

Size – Standard (medium) – 6 slices,

Topping + cheese + 1 ingredient – Kd 2.350

Topping + cheese + 2 ingredients – Kd 2.650

Topping + cheese + UNLIMITED ingredients – Kd 2.950

Drinks – about Kd 1.100 (i think) – 5 UNLIMITED OPTIONS – Original Lemonade, Blood Orange Lemonade, Mint Lemonade, Blueberry Hibiscus Agua Fresca, Ice Tea.

The staff is really friendly and the service good !!

Overall – Blaze is just a step above Papa John’s, Domino’s and the like. I wouldn’t really compare it with Solo Napulitana. But factoring ingredients like blue cheese, goat cheese, parmesan, choice of sauces, it’s a real bang for the buck and a no-brainer for us.
