Our Top 7

Our Top 7 by Aby | August 31, 2016 | Our Top 7 | 2 Comments With a growing number of quality restaurants serving diverse cuisine, it's almost impossible to feature a list of 'Top 7' places to eat out. But two elements we factored in above the others were consistency and quality. The only two restaurants that squeezed their way... Burger Boutique Black – Review

It almost seems as though the Gastronomica group has been leading the dream of Kuwait becoming ‘the food capital of the world’. Though I don’t buy that even for a minute (as of 2016), I was just referencing a video that I recently came across. Nevertheless, this group has been gaining reputation as the bastion of food innovation with its own cult following. And I don’t doubt that a bit. We have enjoyed dining at their other restaurants and the experience has been consistently pleasurable. And now they have started, what I’d call their ‘luxury edition’ burger, ‘The Black’...

Olive Garden Restaurant Review (Kuwait)

To members of the ‘Slow Food Movement’, food connoisseurs and for those who love to enjoy their meal in a cozy ambiance accompanied only with a few gentle whispers and some light music flowing with the cuisine served, let me inform you straight away that this is NOT the place for you. Now since  that’s out, let me also add that factoring food quality, cost, ambiance and service, Olive Garden is presently one of our favorite places to go to in Kuwait. It offers good food at a reasonable cost and their excellent customer service and clean interiors are...

Dean & Deluca Kuwait Review

‘Jack of All… Master of None’, is a common figure of speech to describe a person talented in diverse trades. While this can be considered as a compliment when applied to individuals, I’m not sure what to think when applied to a restaurant that offers a sample of almost every popular cuisine. Dean & Deluca located in a prominent locale of Avenues phase 2 has paired the food market and restaurant. A good place to splurge and a one stop-shop to celebrate food and experience all of the pleasures that cooking and eating can bring. The restaurant is a...

Al-Shamam Restaurant (Souk Mubarakiya)

Whether you live in a swanky neighborhood, by the quiet sea side apartment, or amid the clamor of old Kuwait, every side of this city has its own neighborhood joints serving Arabic cuisine, however Souk Mubarakiya has it different. Come night fall, in this densely populated locale you will find people collectively propelled toward the central souk area. Here you will find a sundry of restaurants, but you will recognize ‘The King’ by the seemingly endless lines crowding the sidewalk beside it. Though you don’t need a GPS, the restaurant is located in a rather unassuming section of this...

Boccini Pizzeria Kuwait (review)

Banana Nutella Manicottii Al Forno Fettuccine Gamberi Piccanti Spinach Tagliatelle Turchia Prosciutto Funghi E Mais Pesto Pollo Pizza Rotolo Prosciutto Affumicato Della Turchia – There are very few restaurants that put such a premium on high quality ingredients. There are even fewer which combine them so intellectually, highlighting the quality of each ingredient without losing overall focus. Clean and articulate cooking that respects the clarity of ingredients is indeed rare, but rarer still is the ability to make a dish look simple when it is in fact complex and well-conceived. Boccini served us quite a few dishes which fell into this category. Boccini...

Cheesecake Factory Review – Kuwait

My first dining experience at the Cheesecake factory was in 2010 during our trip to the USA. The unique architecture and the pleasant mood set by the warm and dimly lit interiors add to the experience. Apart from this what caught my attention was the size and range of the Cheesecakes (after all I’m not a glutton, I’m just an explorer of food 😉 ). Located at the prime spot in Avenues phase 3, you have to be blind not to notice this place. From kids to grandmothers, from gluttons to dieters, I believe everyone should find something they...

Cocoa Room Review

Cocoa Room is an upscale restaurant in Kuwait owned by ‘Gastronomica’. The same group also manages Slider Station, Burger Boutique  and Open Flame Kitchen. These are concept restaurants and each of them have a unique design and character to them. This place is easy to find since its conveniently located somewhat opposite to the Sief Palace and is right next door to a line of restaurants such as Slider Station, Prime & Toast etc. We had gone for brunch at about 10:30 am and the restaurant was packed. The hostess was friendly and gave us a heads up that it...

Oriental Thai Restaurant – Review

Oriental is by far one of the best places serving Thai food in Kuwait. Its located behind Holiday Inn (Kuwait city).  The ambiance is pretty nice and the food tasty. We have been to this place many times, and every time the food has been great. We have tried some of the stuff on their menu like the green and red curry..sizzler etc, but we go back to our 3 most favorite items on their menu. 1. Tom Yum soup chicken kd 2.250 (The sea food variant is kd 3.250). The...
