Life with Cacao
Certain restaurants are known for their expertise at turning out signature foods really well. They’ve pinned down the ingredients, mastered the process, and gained a strong following as a result. Kuwait has the potential to create a substantial market for Dessert hubs.
This place at the Avenues always intrigued me. It’s a cute, concept restaurant birth in Kuwait. The restaurant is designed around the fairy tale of the ‘King of Wandapot who was bored with the usual food and wanted something different to make him happy…’. The restaurant serves both sweet and savory, but we felt it’s mostly a dessert place.
We chose a time when the mall was not crowded, since patience is not one of my virtues. We had ordered a featured item that was not on their menu, the ‘Toffee Date Cake served with homemade ice cream (Kd 4.250)’, ‘Cacao Fondant’(Kd 3.300) and a Cappuccino (Kd 1.650). The Cacao Fondant had a warm milk chocolate filling which slowly flows out as we probed into the moist cake. The flavor of the Date in the toffee date cake was not too strong, neither was the chocolate too sweet. In fact it was just right. Needless to say, both the desserts were sumptuous. Though, it was a pretty pricey tag for desserts, you certainly get what you paid for. Considering the popularity of the place it could be time they took it up a notch. Expanding the place and of course reworking the menu by adding more exotic dessert choices.
