Shawarma Shuwaikh Bneid Al Ghar
Beware the concept shawarma’s they say, expensive shawarma’s can’t be trusted. But if people start talking about a restaurant, there’s probably a reason for it, although in the case of Shawarma Shuwaikh, most of the chatter has not vanished after the hot start, and to top it all, they’ve opened another branch 24 hrs! 😯 Priced at around Kd 1.250, (which surprisingly is 0.250 fils more than their Shuwaikh br) many would somehow prefer to avoid this, but like most things, value comes at a price! But we need to determine how premium is the entire package and how much value is attributed to a hefty price tag…. that is the question 😉
I got there at about 10 am after scouting the locality for quite a while because the restaurant’s title was written ONLY in Arabic 😥 At that time they were serving only breakfast and chicken shawarma. The meat would be served only by around 12 pm. Left with no choice I ordered the Shawarma 1961, which is basically less than a whole chicken (ok i’ve slightly exaggerated here, I just wanted to say lot’s of chicken 😀 ) married with potato, grilled onion, parsley and a tasty home made sauce, stuffed into a Saj bread. FYI, this ain’t no dieters delight. Generous portions of the filling, though will fill you tummy, the taste would probably allure you for more.
The restaurant has just began operations and they are still tying up all the loose ends. For starters, at the Bneid Al Ghar branch, they have a more elaborate menu serving breakfast too. To make the upper tier, you must nail execution, flavor, and offer something that other Shawarma’s don’t. Ironically labeled the ‘Deluxe All-Concept Shawarma’s’ (at least for now) it’s all about the magic of flavors, but for the gourmet crowd this should go without saying. Our experience with this place has been delectable and consistent.
